Measuring waist circumference
A simple way of assessing obesity, risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality rate especially in older adults
World Health Organisation recommends that to measure waist circumference:
a) locate the mid-point between the lowest rib and the top of the hip bone, measure with a tape measure in order to monitor changes in waist circumference. For a more accurate measurement, take the readings around the waist
b) expirate normally, while standing with arms relaxed by the two sides
