How do I know I have it?
Glucose is one of the main fuels of the body. When glucose gets into the urine, it can cause:
Increased and frequent thirst - Passing water frequently, especially at night
- Slow healing of cuts and wounds
- Sudden weight loss for no apparent reason
- Blurred vision or sudden vision changes
- Extreme tiredness
- Lethargy
- Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
- Genital itching
- Recurrent infections e.g. boils
- Frequent episodes of thrush
What next?
If you experience any of these symptoms take prompt action to see your GP, it could be signs of having diabetes.
Spotting diabetes early means that it can be treated early and the risk of long-term health problems can either be prevented or greatly reduced.
